She was home from the hospital
and was sad and tired that day.
She listened to the music and said:
“You must sing more music.
We need more music.”
We had two puppies then, Cally and Zoe.
They were very small and funny,
and so we took them with us a lot.
Like to the store,
and they would sit in the shopping cart
where the babies sit.
Or in the car at the drive-through
and the person at the window would give them a treat.
So that day,
we took them to see her,
and they played and played
and made her smile.
We all giggled.
That day gave us an idea.
Cally and I would go to Pet Therapy School,
so we could visit the children in the hospitals and schools.
The kids loved Cally,
and Cally loved the kids.
Sometimes they would brush her,
and she would roll over for them,
so happy!
Cally would do tricks,
like “sit” and “paw” and “jump.”
One time, at the school,
a boy was feeling upset and mad.
The teachers tried to make him feel better,
but that didn’t help.
So, the teachers asked Cally to go see the boy
and spend some time with him.
They became friends, and Cally cheered him up!
Cally was the only one who could make him
laugh and smile.
Then, everyone was laughing and smiling!
Later,
Cally retired from her job.
Her work was done at the hospital
and the school.
She said goodbye to the kids,
and gave them a song
called “My Little Dog.”
She thought they should have a song
to remember her by.
They sang it over and over,
and it made them smile.
That is how Little Songs
was born.
Thanks Mom.
